the Kinfolk Gathering

↞ A dinner event to nourish the soul and cultivate community ↠

Last weekend my two friends and I got a chance to be part of a dinner for all women. The name that the two hosts Ariel and Jenna came up with was "The Kinfolk Gathering". How these two lovely ladies came up with this name in their own words is the following...

"Something we put a lot of time and effort into deciding was our name for this event. Our American culture has turned the word "dinner" into a fast-paced meal on the go or that revolves around electronics. At our event, we are looking to gather with a group of women who value quality time spent cultivating friendships and building community over a homemade meal."

"The term "kinfolk" derives from an anthropological use of the word, defined as a group of people related by blood. We wholeheartedly believe that through the blood and sacrifice of Christ, we are all brothers and sisters under the same Father."

The evening started out with us mingling outside for a bit, some of us were meeting for the very first time and also getting to talk to ones that I already knew. (that's what you get when you live in a small community) After, Ariel finished up some head shots with some of the other ladies she got some shots of Ashley, Emily, and myself together along our own head shots. Ariel was so sweet and made me feel comfortable doing something that I'm not quite comfortable at. Once we were done with the photo shoot we headed inside because it was rather cold that day. The dinner was held in an old school house in Winesburg, Ohio. We were all assigned a seat with a name tag wrote out and placed on our dinner plates.

After mingling for about an hour Ariel had us go around the table to introduce ourselves by name, where we live, and what we do for a living. We then had a prayer and was excused to get our food. Our food was absolutely amazing and was prepared by Elana & Sheena which both lovely ladies sat at our table. Our time ended around 8 pm but I had such a great time spending time with my two friends, and along the way meeting new people and sharing stories and a lot of laughter!

Hoping that Ariel and Jenna can host another event like this again, because I have some other girl friends that I think would love this. Until next time... enjoy these beautiful photos that were captured by our hosts.
